During the period from 22 to 25 of September Izhora Production Site companies of OMZ Group were participating in the 12 International Forum "Russian Manufacturer". They were presented on OMZ`s common corporate stand. For the past decade this forum has become a significant event and held an exceptional position in our country`s economic life. Every year it calls together representatives of the largest enterprises and business-elite from all Russion regions as well as from many CIS and non-CIS countries. This year about 500 companies and enterprises from Russia and 24 other countries has become participants in this forum. Opening the Forum and touring an exposure, honorary guests headed by M.E. Oseevskiy, Vice-governor of Saint-Petersburg visited the OMZ`s exhibition stand. Izhora Production Site personnel worked at the OMZ`s exhibition stand. There were presented information on every of four business lines of the company. The exhibition visitors had an opportunity to communicate with specialists, get answers to points of interest as well as to get advertising brochures and specialties.

 

OMZ Group companies participated in the 50 Jubilee International Engineering Exhibition MSV, which was holding from 15 to 19 of September 2008 in Brno, Czechia. During work of the exhibition great many of visitors attended the exhibition. Among them it should be particularly noted Alexei Fedotov, Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary of RF in Czech Republic. V.P. Belousov, First Deputy General Director of OMZ told about effective experience and prospects of OMZ Group in development of economic relations between RF and CR in the area of nuclear power engineering industry, metallurgy industry and oil and gas industry.

 

Works on construction of heavy-duty electric arc steel furnace (120t) of the last generation equipped with a transformer of 60 MVA capacity and 3 (three) combined gas-oxygen burners/injectors each of 3.5 MV capacity are in progress at OMZ-Special Steels. This new furnace will make steel for large-tonnage forgings, including forgings for shell rings of NPP reactor vessels. By means of the new furnace it is planned not only to increase volume of production but also to enhance the quality of large ingots.

 

Omz-Special Steels are granted Certificate of Approval of Italian Classification Society Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) for the manufacture of carbon, carbon-manganese and alloy steel forgings weighing maximum 230 tons. The Certificate of Approval is valid until 15 November, 2010.
